Album ini khusus menampilkan 7 lagu kolaborasi Belkastrelka dengan musisi dan penyair. Lagu-lagu ini sebelumnya termuat dalam album penuh “Bela Bangsa” yang diproduksi dalam format cakram dengan edisi terbatas. Berikut ini tulisan mengenai album penuh tersebut oleh Alexander Kusumapraja:

Setahun lalu perhatian saya tercurah untuk Belkastrelka, proyek musik elektronik milik duo Yennu Ariendra dan Asa Rahmana dari Yogyakarta. Namanya yang memunculkan sensasi aneh tersendiri saat dibaca apalagi diucapkan, membuat saya tergelitik untuk langsung mengunduh album “Penyusup Misterius dan Suara-Suara Aneh dari Kamar” saat pertama kali melihatnya di situs ini. Mendengarkan lagu-lagu seperti “Fiksi Pencuri Mimpi”, “Sputnik Darling” dan “Penyusup”, anakronisme adalah kata yang terlintas di kepala saya. Bebunyian elektronik yang mereka ramu dari glitch-glitch dibuang sayang terdengar futuristis namun retro di saat yang sama, rasa yang mirip seperti menonton kembali film tentang robot/planet dengan layar hitam-putih. Mau tak mau imajinasi saya pun membentuk dunianya sendiri dan dalam bayangan saya, mereka adalah dua tokoh fiktif dari sebuah cerita karangan pengarang Rusia yang namanya tak bisa saya lafalkan dengan benar. Di kepala saya, Yennu adalah sesosok penyihir berkerudung pencipta nada-nada ganjil sedangkan Asa adalah android perempuan yang bersuara seperti peri. Mereka seolah bercerita dari dunia maya yang meleburkan batas-batas nyata.

Kini, mereka kembali dengan album baru berjudul Bela Bangsa. Dengan kemasan menarik berwarna kuning cerah yang dipenuhi ilustrasi seperti buku gambar di tukang mainan SD, album ini adalah usaha personal mereka untuk menunjukkan rasa cinta kepada Indonesia dengan cara yang sedikit menyentil. Isu-isu yang diangkat kali ini lebih membumi dan dekat dengan keseharian kita, seperti contohnya single pertama yaitu “Pujian Ekspatriat” yang bercerita tentang mental pengkultusan budaya asing yang masih bertahan sampai hari ini, dimana Asa bernyanyi dalam Bahasa Indonesia beraksen Cinta Laura dengan diiringi vokal Sarita Fraya yang jazzy. Setiap lagu masih menyimpan kejutan-kejutan tersendiri berupa kolase bunyi yang jenial, namun dibanding album sebelumnya, warna musik album ini terasa lebih beragam. Jazz, soul, melayu, soneta, karawitan, dangdut (“Agen Gosip”), rock, grunge, nintendo beat (Duit Duit), hingga dubstep (“Pertarungan di Pinggir Selokan”) dengan beberapa kolaborasi bersama Sarita Fraya, WVLV, Gunawan Maryanto dan Iwan Aryanto.

Album ini bagi saya merupakan operet satir tentang betapa lucunya negeri ini dan “Gugur Gunung” yang berbahasa Jawa adalah finale gempita bagi setiap orang Indonesia dari latar belakang budaya apapun untuk tidak ragu menunjukkan akar budaya kita, tanpa harus malu dicap ndeso atau kampungan, karena sama sekali tidak ada yang salah tentang hal itu. Proyek Bela Bangsa sendiri tak hanya berupa album musik saja, pameran seni dan sebuah pertunjukan pun sedang dipersiapkan. Yang jelas, Belkastrelka tanpa terkesan muluk dan pretensius berhasil mengedukasi kita tentang kepedulian terhadap Tanah Air, lebih dari teks buku sekolah ataupun jargon-jargon pemerintah paling ambisius sekali pun. Hampir satu tahun yang lalu yaitu pada tanggal 4 Juli 2010, Seek Six Sick untuk kesekian kalinya menggelar konser reuninya. Konser tunggal ini diselenggarakan di Langgeng Art Foundation, Yogyakarta. Seek Six Sick (Jimmy Mahardhika dan Soni Irawan) mengajak seluruh musisi yang pernah bergabung sepanjang karir mereka lebih dari 10 tahun; Mereka adalah Suparyanto GS (Bofag), Emir Faisal, Richardus Ardita, Tommy Watampone, Agus Minarto, Heru Jarot dan Handoyo P. Tiap musisi ini tampil bergantian sesuai dengan lagu yang pernah mereka bawakan dulu.

Pertunjukan digelar selama 2 jam yang terbagi dalam 2 sesi. Sesi pertama menampilkan lagu-lagu yang pernah termuat dalam ke-empat album. Sesi kedua merupakan permainan improvisasi. Kedua sesi ini mencakup 22 lagu yang direkam langsung oleh Pengerat Studio.

Rekaman konser tunggal ini menarik untuk dikoleksi dan didengar oleh penggemar mereka selama ini sebagai pengobat rasa rindu. Bagi penggemar baru atau yang belum mengenal Seek Six Sick, album ini menunjukkan lini masa perkembangan karir musikal mereka sebagai pionir noise rock di Indonesia hingga ke ranah psychedelic rock yang berbasis improvisasi.

Meskipun masih aktif mencipta dan merekam lagu, Seek Six Sick membutuhkan dukungan dari penggemarnya untuk lebih sering berlaga diatas panggung. Jika diinginkan. Keahlian mereka bermain improvisasi dalam durasi panjang bisa menjadi inspirasi bagi kita semua dalam menikmati sebuah pertunjukan. (Wok The Rock)

You may know Diantra Irawan before from a bossa nova pop group called Hollywood Nobody. But Something you may not know that she was planning a secret project back at the late 2011, an all girls musical project. Now the project is not a secret anymore and we all can enjoy the sound of this wonder. Munchausen Trilemma was founded by Diantra Irawan and then came Riska Maharlika (guitar) and Vinda Monalisa (drum). They met in the Twitter which was continued to a cozy conversation which resulted a chemistry between those threes. At first Diantra wanted Munchausen to be a crossbreed between the melancholy of Warpaint and the sunny tone of Best Coast. The song came up at one night from Dian’s humming, and then brought to live into a full band arrangement. It came out nothing like they ever imagined before. It resulted in a classical C90 atmosphere of the nineties indie-rock yet sounded fresh and it would be a heartbreaking if this girls caught up in a genre trilemma. In Solemn bond with Jesus and under such indomitable piety, words
and joyful melody came down through the tongue of Stephen Carradini. An Auburn , Alabama based musician along with his band The Midnight Sons, putted down these original songs and The Mountain Goats covers in this full length titled “How We Lived”. This album represents the relation between a man with his usual daily life and God who gave this man a chance to enjoy his daily life. Stephen Carradini loves Jesus and art. ruangrupa kembali mempersembahkan RRREC FEST (ruangrupa Record Festival) di Jakarta pada 3-5 Desember 2011. Festival ini telah diselenggarakan pertama kali di awal 2011 lalu sebagai bagian dari perhelatan Decompression #10 ruangrupa’s 10th Anniversary. RRREC FEST pertama disaksikan oleh lebih dari dua ribu penonton yang memadati Galeri Nasional Indonesia selama dua hari.

RRREC FEST bukan sekadar perhelatan musik. Festival ini hadir sebagai sebuah pernyataan akan pentingnya semangat alternatif, tidak hanya dalam dunia musik tetapi juga dalam praktik kebudayaan lainnya. Semangat ini akan selalu membuka ruang bagi lahirnya berbagai penciptaan dengan gagasan segar dan inspiratif.

Kali ini, RRREC FEST #2 diselenggarakan selama tiga hari di mana pada hari terakhir semua penampilan band tersebar di 5 titik lokasi berbeda di sepanjang jalan Cikini. Salah satunya adalah adalah Kineforum (Taman Ismail Marzuki) yang memutar video-video musik dalam program ‘ruru.mov’. Sama seperti RRREC FEST sebelumnya, acara ini bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan energi dari sebuah generasi dalam musik, baik secara audio maupun video, sehingga dapat terekam dalam jiwa para penggemar musik yang datang ke acara ini. RRREC FEST #2 juga bermaksud untuk menampilkan musisi dan band independen lokal dan internasional yang memiliki keunikan, agar dikenal lebih banyak orang. Selain musik, RRREC FEST #2 juga mengikutsertakan berbagai bentuk aktivitas kesenian lainnya berupa: bazaar unik, pameran poster, mural dan stiker, pemutaran video, fotografi, dll. Kurator RRREC FEST #2 adalah The Secret Agents.

Dalam RRREC FEST #2 The Secret Agents telah memilih 26 band paling inspiratif dan lintas genre: folk, pop, new wave, rock, eksperimental, hingga elektronik. RRREC FEST #2 secara khusus merayakan keragaman budaya kontemporer di Asia Tenggara, sebuah kawasan yang secara geopolitik memiliki posisi yang penting dalam peta kebudayaan dunia. Festival ini juga mengundang musisi dari Amerika Serikat, Hong Kong, dan Finlandia. Keragaman ini adalah bentuk dari komitmen RRREC FEST untuk membuka ruang bagi pertukaran gagasan, semangat, dan kreativitas bagi para musisi, seniman, dan masyarakat luas.

Selama tiga hari, kawasan Cikini Raya akan menjadi lokasi perhelatan RRREC FEST #2. Di samping memiliki nilai sejarah yang penting bagi kota Jakarta, Cikini Raya juga menyediakan infrastruktur yang memadai. Di sana terdapat trotoar yang nyaman bagi pejalan kaki, berbagai kafe dan restoran dengan suasana yang hangat, Pusat Kesenian Jakarta, hotel, dan sebuah toko roti tua yang menyimpan memori. RRREC FEST melihat semua itu sebagai modal lokal yang sangat berharga untuk diapresiasi dan dinikmati bersama.

Tiga titik panggung yang berbeda, berupa stage-in dan stage-out, akan disediakan. Stage-out yang bertempat di halaman Teater Jakarta Taman Ismail Marzuki menawarkan suasana festival dengan tingkat keakraban sosial yang besar, bersatu dengan bazaar produk-produk kreatif karya para seniman muda Ibu Kota. Stage-in digelar secara intim di dalam kafe, serta toko roti legendaris, Tan Ek Tjoan. Pada hari terakhir seluruh acara akan diadakan serentak dengan konsep hop-in.

Bekerjasama dengan Kineforum, RRREC FEST #2 mengadakan ruru.mov, program pemutaran film dan video. Secara khusus, program kali ini memutarkan enam karya audiovisual yang dalam berbagai cara melihat dan mengetengahkan tema musik dan anak muda. Keduanya tidak dapat dipisahkan dan saling mempengaruhi dalam berbagai bentuk ekspresi artistik.

With howls of pain, trembling to psychotic voice, side by side with a driving drumbeat and weeping brass section. Freshwater Fish carry ammunitions of words that philosophically,politically and sociologically fierce. With themes spanning from juvenile addiction to internet social network up to urban decay, they provoke their listeners to protests on all aspect of life. Describing the human race as an animal with an ability to symbolize thoughts, that unfortunately leading themselves into a downfall. Built a country which in the end turned into a trashbin, that suck everything in and self destructed.

“Cantata no. 6 (Assistants of Assistants) in Varying Keys, Op. 25 for Three Electric Guitars, One Bass Guitar, One Drum Kit, One Tenor and Additional Voices Where Appropriate” is the sixth full-length concept album by lo-fi indie band Shorthand Phonetics.

This album narrates Hanabishi Hideaki’s trials and tribulations within the year in his life in medicine after the American sabbatical he took graduating.

These 52 minutes of music roughly covers the 52 weeks within that year of his return to medicine.
